Oh, one more thing: if you have the great fortune to spend part of this lovely holiday weekend in a museum or a movie, PLEASE do me a favor and resist the urge to check your phone every 30 seconds (or turn it off altogether if watching a film). I’m not techno-phobic or an old lady; I love my phone and all of its luxurious convience it brings me. However, I do believe we’ve forgotten what it’s like to BE IN THE MOMENT, and truly take in what’s around us….because our attention spans have gotten short and cranky with stuff that requires us to be focused and still for awhile, or we’re not comfortable with the idea of being really, fully present in whatever we’re doing. Do YOURSELF a favor and try it- and be prepared to be really glad you did and grateful for something unexpected this weekend.
I hate this photograph. It’s a sad state when someone attends a major exhibit of Edvard Munch - and pays more attention to their cell phone.
